Heritage Village Television

HVTV was founded by Bob Bradshaw in 1993 with Federal funding from Horizons for Seniors.  A cooperative agreement with the cable TV provider, to allocate channel 5, allowed for community broadcasts (now on channel 398).   By splitting the screen, the cable TV schedule shares space with a community notice board, during normal operations.  It also allowed for usurping the full screen for community broadcasts of video, movies and other Village creations.  Such a facility was unique in Canada, for an adult lifestyle community.

Regular community broadcasts took place every Sunday at 1:00 PM.  The slogan was "Sunday at One on Five".  Background Hi-Fi music was provided via the cable music channels 301 to 340.

HVTV also provided a TV feed to the Party Room, the Great Hall as well as the exercise room.   The HVTV system worked with analog signals which have been impacted by the change by the cable company to full HD.  Future plans have been under discussion including an open-house held in July, 2015.

The present operator of HVTV is Derek Nagels and the current broadcast is via Cogeco Cable Channel 398. Support the HVTV initiatives by letting Derek know you are watching; and  If you have electronic or audio-visual skills, volunteer to assist .
