 Space reserved for woodworking club.

The clubhouse has a well equipped woodwork shop, located in the basement, accessible via key and fee.  Over the last two decades, the Village has been home to several artists in wood.  The latest celebrity is John Fekkes, woodcarver (see article by Henry Hubert, Inheritage Magazine, July, 2010).

Woodwork Shop, Heritage Village

Our region, has excellent support facilities for woodworkers by way of suppliers, shows and woodworking clubs.  The following basswood mural, measuring  6’ x 8’ was completed in 1986 after 16 months of carving, by 40 members of the Niagara Woodcarving Association.  After display at the Canadian National Exhibition, it was placed in the lobby of the  Regional Municipality of Niagara, St. Catharines.   The design was the work of local artist Garry Rigby and reflects the cultural and geographic aspects of Niagara, including Vineland.   The club’s 100 members publish a newsletter (Wood Knots) and host an annual woodcarving show (early spring).
