Marshville Heritage Festival

Want to visit a real "Heritage Village"?  Bring your period costume (circa 1812-1890).  Over 400 volunteers of the Marshville Heritage Festival Inc. create the "yester-year" cultural experience each Labour Day Weekend, to show Wainfleet farm life in the 1890's.

There's something for all ages - and shopping galore, with over 126 exhibitors and 41 demonstration stations.  You can watch pig roasts or a magic show:  listen to country band or whitness a soldier's life during the war of 1812. Watch the pioneer art of making roof shingles and wooden water wells or taste the local maple syrup and apple butter, made on the premises.

Here you see one of the finest Canadian collections of antique farm machinery, steam engines and lumber mills - some in full working order.   There's a cluster of antique cars on display as well as a half-scale replica of  the Siver Dart, famous for the first controlled powered flight in Canada (1909).  Some 17 historic buildings have been re-assembled here - including a log cabin, a sawmill, school house and blacksmith shop.  This is a local festival well worth the modest entrance fee.
