Our Chess Club meets in fall, Tuesdays, 7:00PM in the Board Room.  You could also join the St. Catharines Chess Club.  They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30PM- 10PM at 1 Currie St., St. Catharines ($35 annual fee).

The Chess Federation of Canada is the governing body for chess is Canada. and is affiliated with the World Chess Federation (FIDE).  Chess in it's traditional form has been played since 1475.  Rules were published in Spain in 1497:  Repeticion de Amores y Arte de Ajedrez (Repetition of Love and the Art of Playing Chess) by Luis Ramirez de Lucena.

That didn't stop  local entrepreneurs Lex and Susan Parker of St. Catharines from messing with the format last year.  They invented "DragonChess" and published both a game board and Xbox video game (in 2010).  Dragon Chess can be played like traditional chess or modified with an expanded board,  two extra Pawns, and two new Dragon pieces.  Heritage Villagers are always eager to learn something new.  Here's your change to grab the World DragonChess title and support the local economy.
